Global engagement

The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) contributes the financial-system view to national and regional Nexus programmes. Where a country or region names a priority with financial exposure in scope, GRA's role is to read the evidence for its financial meaning: how a shock reaches credit, insurance, markets and public finance, where protection gaps lie and what a competent institution would still need to know. This section shows where that contribution sits, what is in place today and what remains in formation.

01In brief

The short answer.

Global engagement at GRA is its contribution of the financial-system view to national and regional Nexus programmes: where a priority has financial exposure in scope, GRA reads the evidence for its financial meaning, such as how a shock reaches credit, insurance, markets and public finance and where protection gaps lie.

02Spatial finance

Where projects sit, and which layer protects them.

Where development projects meet hazard and poverty, and which financing layer protects them. Hypothetical projects and design values.

Development projects in Mozambique and Malawi against hazard and poverty, with the financing layer that would protect each.Hypothetical projects and design values; no country's strategy is shown.
03The contribution

The finance reading of national and regional evidence.

The Global Centre for Risk and Innovation (GCRI) supplies the evidence and supports country programme formation; The Global Risks Forum (GRF) leads leadership, dialogue and the annual Nexus Universe programme. Nexus Foundry is operated at national and regional level by Nexus Consortiums through their host and lead organizations, within a multilateral programme led by three pillar not-for-profit institutions, GCRI, GRF and GRA, on a public-private-planet partnership. GRA's engagement is always the finance, insurance and development-readiness interface.

The financial reading of a national priority.

Instruments in placePublic record of reserves, pools, contingent credit and insurance
GapsUninsured and unfinanced shares, labelled by evidence

The reading is contributed only where a national or regional programme names a priority with financial exposure in scope, and the country or region keeps ownership of the evidence.

10Questions

Questions and answers.

Does GRA have offices in the countries it covers?
No. Countries in a region are research coverage, and the fifteen hubs are planned coordination roles in the consortium geography, not offices of GRA or of anyone else.
Who leads a national programme?
National and regional consortiums operate through their host and lead organizations. GCRI Canada, as Consortium Secretariat, supports country programme formation. GRA contributes the financial-system view.
How do I raise a country or regional question?
Country and consortium programme enquiries go to the Consortium Secretariat at contact@therisk.global. Finance-readiness questions can go to readiness@globalriskalliance.com. The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.
Does engagement mean financing for a country?
No. GRA prepares evidence and diligence questions. It never lends, underwrites, invests or promises funding, cover or capital to any country or programme.
