Professional conduct and complaints

Membership of The Global Risks Alliance (GRA) carries obligations as well as opportunities. This page sets out the conduct expected of members and participants, the safeguards that protect people taking part, and the fair process designed for complaints and appeals. It applies to members once membership opens, and the complaint route is open to anyone today, member or not, without payment. It belongs to membership and participation.

04Safeguards

Protecting people who take part.

Safety

Safeguarding

Concerns about the safety or wellbeing of any person in a GRA activity go to safeguarding@globalriskalliance.com.

Integrity

Speaking up

Integrity concerns, including suspected misconduct or misuse of GRA's name, go to integrity@globalriskalliance.com.

Competition

Conduct in meetings

Competition-law or conduct concerns are raised in confidence at compliance@globalriskalliance.com.

No one who raises a concern in good faith should suffer retaliation for doing so. Retaliation is itself a conduct breach.

05Fair process

How a complaint is designed to be handled.

  1. 01

    Acknowledge

The acknowledgement gives a reference and names the next step.

  2. 02

    Assess

A person not responsible for the matter assesses the complaint and any interim steps needed to protect people.

  3. 03

    Hear both sides

Anyone complained about is told of the substance and can respond before a decision is taken.

  4. 04

    Decide with reasons

The decision is made by someone not responsible for the contested matter, and reasons are given.

  5. 05

    Appeal

A decision on membership or conduct can be appealed under the adopted terms, to a reviewer not involved in the first decision.

08Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I complain if I am not a member?
Yes. Anyone can raise a complaint or concern, without membership or payment.
Can a member be suspended or removed?
The adopted membership terms are designed to set out proportionate responses to serious breaches, with a fair hearing and an appeal. Until they are adopted, no such sanction is described as in force.
Is my concern kept confidential?
Concerns are handled with as much confidentiality as a fair process allows. You will be told if information must be shared to address the concern.
Is GRA an emergency service?
No. In immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
