Industry scope and publisher

Insurance Nexus is published by The Global Risks Alliance (GRA), a nonprofit corporation registered in Nevada, United States, operating as a business league for the financial services industry. This page sets out the industry scope of the platform, the professional community it serves and the legal limits on what it does. A business league works for the common interest of an industry, never the private business of any member. The current service level is R0: information and enquiries.

01In brief

The short answer.

Insurance Nexus is a specialist platform of The Global Risks Alliance for insurance and catastrophe, climate and hazards, and health and biosecurity. Its mandate covers insurance-sector risk governance, underwriting-relevant knowledge and risk protection gaps without underwriting. GRA publishes it, answers for its content and takes no decision on anyone's behalf. It is established and works at service level R0, information and enquiries.

How Insurance Nexus is governedA mandate sets the platform's scope; an editor and reviewers govern what it publishes; programmes and the community supply the work; the integrity route handles corrections; authority over decisions stays outside. Design of the governance, not a record.

03Geography

Hazards and exposure in the Gulf of Mexico coast.

For industry scope and publisher, in GRA's spatial-finance reading, the map opens on night lights and population density with night lights tonight from NASA GIBS, framed on the Gulf of Mexico coast; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

04Industry scope

Insurance as a system.

Insurance Nexus covers insurance-sector risk governance, the knowledge underwriting relies on, and the protection gaps between economic and insured losses. Its scope spans property and casualty, health and life, reinsurance links, claims operations, insurtech and takaful, studied at sector level.

Its methods are exposure analysis, risk transfer concepts and protection gap studies, grounded in actuarial mathematics and extreme value theory and tail risk. Its work is designed to reach readers through the Finance and Insurance Readiness and Global Sector Risk and Resilience report series, and through the finance and insurance readiness track planned for the annual Nexus Universe programme governed by The Global Risks Forum (GRF).
