01In brief

The short answer.

Banking Nexus programmes organize its work on financial stability, capital markets and investment, and climate and hazards at three levels: global priorities, regional applications and country work. Each programme shows its recorded status, from exploring and forming to active, paused or archived, and a plan is never presented as an activity. Countries take part through their national programmes and the Consortium Secretariat.

Scoping to review.

Research and industry programmes: the policy cycleA problem reaches the agenda, options are formulated and appraised, consultation tests them, the mandate holder decides, implementation and monitoring follow, and evaluation feeds the next agenda. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

Activity and exposure in Western Europe.

For research and industry programmes, in GRA's spatial-finance reading, the map opens on night lights and population density with night lights tonight from NASA GIBS, framed on Western Europe; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

04Levels

Three levels of work.

05Programme levels

Banking Nexus at global, regional and national level.

LevelBanking Nexus focus
GlobalBasel implementation and climate supervision across jurisdictions
RegionalRegional housing and trade-finance exposure
NationalNational bank exposure from public statistics

Banking Nexus programme work is read against Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (Basel Framework, climate principles and the voluntary climate disclosure framework), IASB (IFRS 9 expected credit loss) and FSB (Key Attributes for resolution and nonbank leverage recommendations). National entries would draw on collateral location, hazard layers and insurance status, and each would state which values are observed, official, modelled or unknown.

06Status

Every programme shows where it stands.

A programme is shown as exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived, according to its record. A plan is never presented as an activity.

07Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
ProgrammeA group of related projects and activities managed together to obtain benefits that managing them separately would not, in the sense the Project Management Institute's programme standard uses.
Programme statusThe recorded state of a programme on Nexus pages: exploring, forming, constituted, active, paused or archived. A plan is never presented as an activity.
Country ownershipThe principle that a country leads its own development policies and strategies and coordinates the actions that support them, set out in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.
CET1 ratioCommon equity tier 1 capital as a share of risk-weighted assets, the core measure of a bank's loss-absorbing capital.

Questions and answers.

How does a country take part?
Through its national programme. Country enquiries go to the Consortium Secretariat at contact@therisk.global or a regional desk.

Bring your expertise to this field.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
