Professional research: systematic evidence synthesisA question is framed with its owner and a protocol registered; records are searched, screened and checked for eligibility by two reviewers; data are extracted, synthesised and graded for certainty before a brief is written. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

01In brief

The short answer.

Financial Stability research is the evidence work behind the platform: questions such as systemic interconnectedness and nonbank financial intermediation, answered with financial economics and macro-finance as well as network science and contagion and reviewed before publication. Every result carries an evidence label, from observed to modelled or expert judgement, and missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

02Geography

Activity and exposure in Europe.

For professional research, in GRA's spatial-finance reading, the map opens on population density, night lights and true-colour imagery with built-up and settlement extent from NASA GIBS, framed on Europe; 3 further NASA layers wait in the list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

03Questions

What the research asks.

  1. 01

    Systemic interconnectedness

Banks, insurers and nonbanks linked through exposures.

  2. 02

    Nonbank financial intermediation

    Funds, credit and liquidity connections.

  3. 03

    Liquidity and market stress

    Funding shortages and correlated behavior.

  4. 04

    Contagion and fire sales

    Amplification pathways across markets.

  5. 05

    Cross border financial risk

    Global funding and currency spillovers.

  6. 06

    Crisis management and resolution

Recovery, resolution and public authority boundaries.

04Research questions

The questions Financial Stability research works on.

QuestionEvidence used
How do reconstruction methods bias contagion?BIS statistics, sector aggregates and network models
Where does nonbank leverage concentrate?financial centres and cross-border claims
How do physical shocks feed back to the real economy?network clearing and fire-sale models

Financial Stability research concerns contagion, liquidity and real-economy feedback. It is written for macroprudential and stability analysts and systemic risk researchers, carries an evidence label on every value and never performs any institution's own analysis of market predictions.

05Evidence

Every result keeps its label.

Results are labelled as observed, officially reported, estimated, modelled, forecast, scenario or expert judgement. Missing data is shown as missing, never filled silently.

06Key terms

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Research integrityConduct of research in line with principles of reliability, honesty, respect and accountability, as the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity sets them out.
Evidence labelA tag naming the kind of evidence, such as observed or modelled, that should survive every summary.
ReproducibilityObtaining consistent results using the same data and analysis code as the original study.
Liquidity mismatchThe gap between how quickly a fund promises to repay investors and how quickly it can sell its assets without loss.
09Questions

Questions and answers.

Can I propose a research question?
Yes. Write to contact@globalriskalliance.com with the question, the context and who would use the answer. A proposal receives a reference; it does not commit the platform to the work.

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
