01In brief

The short answer.

Insurance Nexus publications are the platform's reviewed, citable outputs, such as insurance-risk guides, sector resilience briefs and evidence-to-diligence methods. Each carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status, and a correction creates a new version with its history. Contributions to series such as Finance and Insurance Readiness as well as Global Sector Risk and Resilience also appear in Nexus Reports.

Reports and sector briefs: systematic evidence synthesisA question is framed with its owner and a protocol registered; records are searched, screened and checked for eligibility by two reviewers; data are extracted, synthesised and graded for certainty before a brief is written. Design of the process, not a record of a run.

03Geography

Hazards and exposure in the Gulf of Mexico coast.

For reports and sector briefs, in GRA's spatial-finance reading, the map opens on population density, night lights and true-colour imagery with built-up and settlement extent from NASA GIBS, framed on the Gulf of Mexico coast; every other NASA layer, live feed and forecast waits in the layer list.

The interactive map needs JavaScript; the layer list and sources are below.

04What is published

Every output shows its status.

  • Each publication carries its authors, date, method, evidence labels and editorial status.
  • Corrections create a new version with its history.
  • Series contributions also appear in Nexus Reports; see Publish in Nexus Reports.
05Publication types

What Insurance Nexus is designed to publish.

  • Sector resilience briefs on catastrophe and protection gaps from Insurance Nexus, each with evidence labels, sources and limits.
  • Method notes on exposure data and model transparency from Insurance Nexus, each with evidence labels, sources and limits.
  • Insurance-risk guides for non-specialists from Insurance Nexus, each with evidence labels, sources and limits.

Every Insurance Nexus publication is reviewed before release, and the most common correction it guards against is a modelled loss shown as if reported, or an insured figure mixed with an economic one.

Terms used on this page.

Each term as this page uses it. Where a standard-setting body defines the term, the wording follows that body.

TermDefinition
Version of recordThe fixed version of a work that a publisher formally declares published; later changes appear as dated corrections or new versions, never as silent edits, in the sense NISO's journal article versions recommendation uses.
Peer reviewEvaluation of a work by independent experts in the field before publication.
CorrectionA published notice that amends an error in a work whose main findings stand.
Evidence labelA tag naming the kind of evidence, such as observed or modelled, that should survive every summary.
