Infrastructure and Project Finance is a chapter of Development Finance Nexus: a specialist sub-community with its own group, editor and research agenda. Development finance is canonical for project preparedness.
Infrastructure and Project Finance is a chapter of Development Finance Nexus: a specialist sub-community with its own group, editor and research agenda. Its work starts from the cornerstone topic, infrastructure project finance. Infrastructure project finance funds an asset through a special purpose company whose debt is repaid from the asset's own cash flows and secured on its contracts rather than the sponsor's balance sheet. A chapter becomes a platform of its own only by meeting the graduation rule.

| Phase | Hazard question |
|---|---|
| Construction | Delays and damage during build; construction all-risks cover |
| Operation | Availability and performance under hazard over decades |
| Refinancing | Lender view of hazard at refinancing |
| Handback | Asset condition at concession end |
The Infrastructure and Project Finance chapter of Development Finance Nexus keeps the platform boundary: it never covers origination or arrangement of financing or safeguards categorisation of a project, and its evidence carries the same labels as every Development Finance Nexus page.
