Housing and Property Finance is a chapter of Banking Nexus: a specialist sub-community with its own group, editor and research agenda. Its work starts from the cornerstone topic, housing and property finance. Mortgage risk is the risk that borrowers cannot repay housing loans or that falling property values leave lenders exposed. A chapter becomes a platform of its own only by meeting the graduation rule.

Mortgage books are the largest geographic exposure most banks hold. Flood, wildfire and coastal hazard reach them through collateral value, borrower affordability and insurance availability. Borrower-based macroprudential tools such as loan-to-value limits interact with hazard: a falling value in a flood zone raises loan-to-value without any new lending. Topic depth at housing and property finance.
