Reinsurance and Catastrophe subject groups are moderated forums where reinsurance analysts and catastrophe modellers discuss open questions in the insurance and catastrophe field, such as reinsurance structures and catastrophe models. Each group is listed once its moderation, terms and hosting are in place, with its scope and how to join. A group informs the platform's work and has no authority over its findings.

| Proposed group | What it would examine | Out of scope |
|---|---|---|
| Model validation | How should secondary uncertainty be shown? | rates-on-line or prices |
| Secondary perils | How do climate-conditioned event sets differ? | capacity views |
| Basis risk in index triggers | Where is basis risk largest? | placement or broking |
Each proposed Reinsurance and Catastrophe group would publish its scope, moderator and terms before opening, and would work from event sets, exposure and loss records.

| Excess of loss | Reinsurance that pays losses above a retention up to a limit, per risk, per event or in aggregate. |
| Quota share | Proportional reinsurance in which a fixed share of premiums and losses on every policy is ceded. |

The current service level is R0: information and enquiries. An enquiry receives a reference and names the next step; applications, payments, compute allocations and registrations open only when their team, terms and review capacity exist.
